This event will be conducted in French.
Join us for an in-depth look at this nearly completed EnerPHit Passive House retrofit project, which hopes to be the first certified EnerPHit(+i) completed in a cold climate in Canada.
The builder Fabrizio Maso, will explain the architectural and technical strategies used to achieve exceptional energy performance, airtightness, and occupant comfort within an existing building.
Attendees will learn how the design team balanced Passive House principles with the realities of retrofit constraints, addressing envelope upgrades, detailing challenges, and integration of mechanical systems combined with creative problem-solving to push the boundaries of sustainable retrofit design in cold climate architecture.
After hearing from the team, attendees will have the opportunity to tour the space and experience the details up close.
This event is a partnership with Bâtiment Passif Québec.

16h00 – 21h00

4:00pm – Check-in, enjoy snacks and socializing
4:30pm – Presentation with Q&A
5:30pm – Building Tours
6:30pm – Food and networking social
9:00pm – End
1. Understand strategies for maintaining continuous airtightness through complex penetrations and transitions within retrofit assemblies.
2. Explore approaches to achieving thermal continuity in retrofit assemblies while addressing constraints such as limited ceiling heights and increased exterior wall thicknesses.
3. Examine the distribution and integration of mechanical services within high-performance retrofit projects to support Passive House performance goals.
4. Review enclosure strategies for roofs and non-heated basements, including considerations for insulation, airtightness, and thermal bridging.
5. Learn about the sequencing and installation methods for dense-packed cellulose and mineral wool insulation to ensure durability, performance, and construction efficiency.
6. Gain an overview of cost optimization strategies in comparison with a standard retrofit project, including how Passive House measures can influence long-term value and performance.
