Mistakes during construction can be costly\, especially in high performance buildings where certification is being pursued. This in-person three-day course teaches the theory of Passive House building techniques and prepares participants for the Certified Passive House Tradesperson exam. It includes lectures and hands-on workshop experience\, incorporating actual building of Passive House elements relevant to the Canadian construction industry. \nThe following theoretical topics will be covered:\n\nPassive House criteria and principles\nBuilding ecology\, comfort and economic efficiency\nIntroduction to Passive House design tools (e.g. PHPP)\nConstruction process and quality assurance\nThermal insulation\nThermal bridge-free construction\nWindows and airtightness\nVentilation and heat supply\nBuilding envelope specialization\n\nPractical topics covered:\n\nAirtightness test\n\nHow to set up a building to do an Airtightness test\nWe will look for leakage and how to prevent them\n\n\nWindows installation\nVentilation system\n\nDay 1: Friday April 25\, 2025 from 9am to 4pm PT (in person)\nDay 2: Saturday April 26\, 2025 from 9am to 4pm PT (in person)\nDay 3: Sunday April 27\, 2025 from 9am to 4pm PT (in person) \n*Dates are subject to change
