Project Description
Evolve is a six-storey, wood-frame building with 110 rental units. Developed by UBC Properties Trust for UBC faculty and staff, Evolve is located in the Wesbrook Place neighbourhood at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. The project meets the Passive House Standard's energy targets. This building includes a guest suite that UBC faculty and staff can reserve and an indoor common lounge area. Outside, the residents have a large private courtyard that consists of a play area, BBQs, various seating options and green areas.
Evolve presents an outstanding opportunity for the project team, UBC researchers, and the construction community at large to analyze project performance and occupant satisfaction.
Supported by a grant from Natural Resources Canada, researchers at UBC are able to collect and analyze data from Evolve and a comparable project in Wesbrook Place to help inform UBC's long-term goals to reduce energy requirements for buildings.
