Project Description
Coal Harbour Phase 2 is a new eleven story building located adjacent to the existing Coal Harbour Community Center in downtown Vancouver. The building will complete Phase 2 of the Coal Harbour Master Plan and provide key community amenities that were envisioned as part of the original master plan. This includes a 340 student elementary school on the first three levels, a 65 space childcare on the 4th level, and 60 units of affordable housing and amenity spaces on levels 5 to 11. The project is being developed by the City of Vancouver with the school owned by the Vancouver School Board, and the childcare and affordable housing owned by the City. The building is designed to be certified to the Passive House standard, use no fossil fuels, and is targeting a 40% reduction in embodied carbon, to meet the City’s commitment to build all new City owned buildings to achieve near zero emissions in operation, and reduce carbon emissions during construction.
