Project Description
The Cascadia Passive House is a single residence, located in Oak Bay, BC. The 52’ wide lot provides a beautiful east-west orientation with lots of natural light throughout the year.
This project is currently under construction and scheduled to be completed by the end of 2016. It is also targeting the international Passive House certification. 2,600 sqf of living area is spread over 2 floors, including a double high living room with 19’ high ceilings. The home is prepared for photovoltaic panels on the roof and an electric car charging station, allowing to use the sun’s energy either directly in the house or for charging a car.
On October 11th this project already broke a Canadian record for air tightness (0.15 ACH). This will result in direct energy savings since the HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilation) will provide constant fresh air and distribute the passive heat throughout the building.
With the progression of the construction, more details will be provided over the following months.
