Toronto, ON – December 10, 2020, Passive House Canada/Maison Passive Canada (PHC) announced today that Passive House Institute Certifier, Chris Petit, has been hired as Technical Services Lead to support the Association’s new Technical Services Department.

Mr. Petit is highly regarded in the high-performance building community across North America with more than ten years’ experience in energy-efficient construction. Based in Toronto, he will provide deeper technical services for both PHC membership and the broader Passive House community in Canada.

Mr. Petit has completed hundreds of models and has used these analyses to improve detail design on projects throughout North America. His experience includes design support and energy modeling services with the Center for Sustainable Building Research, Clean Energy Coalition, Regenerative Design, and CertiPHIers Cooperative.

“We’re delighted to have Chris on board to develop a Technical Services Department which will allow us to help practitioners, manufacturers and government transition to zero-emission building. His deep experience, knowledge and capabilities will complement the services we offer the Passive House community in Canada,” said CEO Chris Ballard.

“I could not be more excited about joining the Passive House Canada team” said Mr. Petit. “I have collaborated with many organizations to improve energy efficiency standards and help make high performance building the norm. As a Passive House certifier, trainer, and designer, I regularly create and review thermal bridge modeling and teach professionals how to properly thermal bridge model details. I hope to make a real impact in this role.”

Besides offering enhanced technical consulting for members, Mr. Petit will provide technical policy development for our government and industry advocacy initiatives, guidance for component designers wanting to manufacture to PHI standards and build closer ties to the North American PHI Certifiers community.
