Deborah Byrne
Mme Byrne est animée par des valeurs fondamentales de durabilité, de confort et d’accessibilité financière ainsi que par des solutions où une réduction de la demande d’énergie s’intègre à la vie quotidienne et de travail. Elle a d’abord découvert Maison Passive en 2007 lorsqu’elle terminait ses études en ingénierie en Irlande, quand la plupart des documents sur les maisons passives n’étaient publiés qu’en allemand. Une visite à la 13e Conférence internationale de la maison passive en 2009 l’a convaincue que la norme des maisons passives était la solution aux problèmes énergétiques des bâtiments et qu’elle était en fait beaucoup plus qu’une norme énergétique de construction.

À la suite de cette conférence, Mme Byrne et certains autres participants du contingent irlandais ont formé la Passive House Association d’Irlande, premier conseil anglophone affilié à l’International Passive House Association. Depuis, Mme Byrne a obtenu une formation et une certification à titre de conceptrice et de formatrice de maison passive. Elle a également conçu plusieurs projets importants de maison passive au Canada et en Irlande. Mme Byrne travaille chez Kearns Mancini Architects comme responsable de projets et conceptrice de maison passive. Elle continue de croire que l’on peut toujours faire mieux.
Evelyne Bouchard

Evelyne Bouchard
Evelyne is a registered architect and Certified Passive House Designer. She is passionate about the junction between thoughtful design and technical rigour. As a practising architect, she strives to embed Passive House design principles and measurable performance into the flow of the iterative creative process. Most recently, she was the
in-house Passive House advisor for Local Practice Architecture + Design
working on a 90-unit affordable student rental housing project at Simon Fraser University. Evelyne is also one of Passive House Canada’s course instructors. She is a regular participant in the monthly PHPP User Group meetings, where she enjoys
discussing the details of implementing the Passive House Standard with other professionals.

After six years in Western Canada, Evelyne recently moved back to her native Québec where she looks forward to collaborating with other professionals and enthusiasts to spread the word about Passive House in English, et en Français.
Chris Hill

Chris Hill
Chris is the President of B Collective Homes, a Vancouver based residential construction company, he is a Certified Professional Accountant, (CPA, CMA), Master Resident Builder (CHBA), and Passive House Tradesperson.

With a passion for construction, specifically innovation and disruption that provides healthy sustainable living environments, Chris has committed to promoting and building passive house projects. Chris brings his business and financial background to the board, providing effective strategy development, accounting stewardship and delivery of high-quality transparent annual reports. He has been a board member of Passive House Canada since October 2018
Scott Kennedy

Scott Kennedy
Depuis 1988, M. Kennedy est l’un des dirigeants de Cornerstone Architecture, entreprise qui compte actuellement 15 employés. Il est ingénieur professionnel ayant obtenu un diplôme de l’Université de l’Alberta et est titulaire d’un baccalauréat en architecture de l’Université de la Colombie-Britannique.

M. Kennedy a engagé Cornerstone Architecture à discuter de Maison Passive et de ses principes avec chaque nouveau client. L’entreprise a remporté de nombreux succès et construit actuellement un bâtiment à charpente de bois de six étages conforme aux normes des maisons passives qui offre 85 appartements polyvalents et compte également 11 autres projets de maison passive à divers stades de développement.

M. Kennedy siège comme président au conseil d’administration de Maison Passive Canada depuis octobre 2014.

« Le concept de maison passive est important et selon moi, ce n’est que le début. Nous devons faire passer le message et l’empêcher de se diluer. C’est une approche holistique qui permet d’ériger un bâtiment fiable si elle est exécutée correctement. J’espère qu’un jour la norme des maisons passives, ou autre semblable, sera monnaie courante. Notre organisme pourra ainsi concentrer ses efforts à faire part de son expertise dans le domaine aux comités du code du bâtiment. Tous les espoirs sont permis. »
Marcel Studer

Marcel Studer
M. Studer est l’un des dirigeants de Econ Group Ltd, entreprise de construction basée à Vancouver. Il est titulaire d’une maîtrise en architecture de l’École polytechnique fédérale (EPF) de Zurich (Suisse). M. Studer vit et travaille au Canada depuis les 16 dernières années à titre de concepteur, de constructeur et, plus récemment, de formateur de cours destinés aux personnes de métier offerts par Maison Passive Canada.

Depuis 2006, il participe à divers projets locaux en conception et en construction de maison passive et perfectionne ses compétences et connaissances des domaines de l’efficacité énergétique, de la science du bâtiment et de la technologie de construction. Il siège comme au conseil d’administration de Maison Passive Canada depuis octobre 2014 et occupe actuellement le poste de trésorier.
Peter Thaler

Peter Thaler
As Director of Finance for Perkins+Will Canada, Peter is instrumental in establishing the short and long-term strategic financial goals of the firm. Peter directs the firm’s day-to-day operations and reporting systems and is involved in legal and HR matters.

Perkins+Will’s Vancouver office has been committed to green practices since it’s inception in 1987, has been a champion of sustainability, committed to the 2030 Challenge and embraces the Passive House Design Concept as a next step in helping to transform lives and enhance community.
Having overseen the finances of Perkins+Will’s Vancouver office since 1987, Peter has a proven track- record of successfully managing budgets of hundreds of architectural projects. He is a strong believer that financial success is not excluding to honour the broader goals of society.

Prior to becoming Director of Finance for Perkins+Will, Peter served as CFO of the North Fraser Port Authority a federally incorporated entity where he worked with various user groups as well as different levels of government. Prior to that, he was employed at a local CPA firm after immigrating to Canada from Switzerland where he was raised and educated.
Craig Dockrill

Craig Dockrill
Craig has worked with non-profits as employee, CEO, and board member across three continents over the past 15 years. Craig’s work has consistently focused on the pursuit of sustainability in natural resource based economies. As the popularity of green energy production grows, Craig’s attention is increasingly drawn to demand-side solution spaces within our energy markets.

Craig discovered PassiveHouse while trying to persuade a builder to create a healthier and more comfortable house – although the discovery came a bit too late for his own house, it was motivation to better educate himself and take action to support Canadians in demanding more comfort and lower energy consumption from their homes.

Currently, as a Director with Alberta Environment & Parks, Craig leads a diverse team responsible for environmental planning in northern Alberta. He also serves as member of the Governance Committee and Board for Wood Buffalo Environmental Association – a global leader in air quality monitoring. Craig holds an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Global Executive MBA from the Univeristy of St. Gallen, and a M.Sc. from the University of Alberta.
Suzanne Christensen

Suzanne Christensen
Suzanne has a lifelong passion for innovative and efficient building design and construction. Growing up in central British Columbia gave her a keen appreciation for the impact of good (and bad) construction materials and methods on the comfort and sustainability of buildings and the people inside them. She continued to learn about design and construction through avid self-education, two appointments to Victoria’s Advisory Design Panel and by taking the Passive House Design and Construction Training Course.

Suzanne’s career has focused on policy development, communication and implementation. She has worked with the government of British Columbia, provincial safety organizations and non-profits. She has been involved in energy regulatory issues and proposals for transformative energy efficiency programs. She is currently an Assistant Deputy Minister with the Government of British Columbia.
Andrea Crum-Ewing

Andrea Crum-Ewing
Andrea is a partner of Crum-Ewing, Poliacik, a Toronto based law firm that practices in real estate and provides advice to builders and architects, among other clients. Andrea is new to the board this year and is committed to raising awareness in the legal community and among her clients as to the healthy, sustainable living environment promoted by Passive House of Canada. Andrea will lend her legal training and background to assist the board in navigating not-for-profit compliance issues.
