Situated in the vibrant Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood—where the North Shore mountains, downtown Vancouver, and Burnaby converge—Narrows stands as a six-storey, wood-framed showpiece, housing 48 meticulously designed rental homes.

Developed by Steiner Properties, the Narrows embodies industrial design in an urban environment, drawing inspiration from the raw beauty of the Burrard Inlet. Cornerstone Architecture designed the landmark building to the Passive House Standard, paying close attention to energy uses outside the thermal envelope.

Join us to learn from the architect as he discusses the benefits of passive house for the residents, the project stakeholders and their experience using Passive House design principles.

Speakers

Scott Kennedy | Principal, Cornerstone Architecture

Scott is a professional engineer, graduate of the UBC School of Architecture and past chair of Passive House Canada. He is trained in the International Passive House Standard and regularly participates in many events revolving around high performance buildings. His projects include The Heights in 2018, an 85-suite mixed use rental project which received certification to the International Passive House standard. This project was followed by Harding House, in Smithers and Spire Landing, The Peak and Little Mountain Co-Housing in Vancouver. Skagen, The Charles, Evolve, 1680 Adanac, Lakewood, Templeton are other projects in the lower mainland using Passive House modeling to meet comfort and low energy targets. Cornerstone is currently designing numerous other townhouses and apartment projects to the International Passive House standard.
