Webinar description
This webinar series will focus on Canadian Projects all across the Country.
In Canada’s Banff National Park, the Town of Banff needed a community hub at the Banff Recreation Grounds that could serve as an example of their newly adopted Sustainable Municipal Policy. The recently completed Pavilion addresses this need by utilizing an innovative, continuous and airtight prefabricated mass timber building envelope that meets the standards of the Passive House Low Energy building certification. We are awaiting the official PH plaque for a Low Energy Building. This 232 m2 communal gathering space has also been universally designed for everyone and with its barrier free components, will soon receive Rick Hansen certification.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will learn about the project’s successful approach to some of the following challenges:
- Understand the products, materials and detailing strategies used in the building to achieve continuity of thermal and air barriers using a prefabricated mass timber building envelope.
- Understand the HVAC components and layout
- Understand the Sustainable Municipal Policy and integration of the client’s needs for net zero ready, low embodied energy, barrier free access, and versatility over the lifespan of the building
