SUMMARY:Passive House Construction Training for Trades (150A + 150B) ONLINE - JUN 2026
DESCRIPTION:This online course teaches practical Passive House building techniques and theory about this high-performance building standard. \nIf you intend to write the Certified Passive House Tradesperson exam we strongly recommend you take 150A\, 150B and 150C prior to writing the exam. Learn more about the Pathway to Passive House Tradesperson Certification (150P). \n\nPassive House Construction Training Course for Trades – Theoretical (150A) & Practical (150B)\nIt is essential that those working on Passive House buildings can properly install components\, accurately implement design details\, and also assess the impact that changes from planned work will have on the performance of the building. Mistakes during construction can be costly\, especially in high performance buildings where certification is being pursued. \nThis online course teaches the theory of Passive House building techniques and prepares participants for the Certified Passive House Tradesperson exam. It includes lectures and hands-on experience\, incorporating actual building of Passive House elements relevant to the Canadian construction industry. This course also enables you to understand the impacts on energy efficiency of any change orders and to collaborate with designers to solve problems involved in the construction process. \nThe following theoretical topics will be covered:\n\nPassive House criteria and principles\nBuilding ecology\, comfort and economic efficiency\nIntroduction to Passive House design tools (e.g. PHPP)\nConstruction process and quality assurance\nThermal insulation\nThermal bridge-free construction\nWindows and airtightness\nVentilation and heat supply\nBuilding envelope specialization\n\nPractical topics covered:\n\nAirtightness testing\nHow to set up a building to do an airtightness test\nHow to look for air leakage and how to prevent it\nWindows installation\nVentilation system\n\nNEW: 150B Options\nAttendees now have the choice of 2 options for the 150B portion: \n\nBuilding envelope specialization\nMechanical specialization

SUMMARY:Mastering designPH: from SketchUp to PHPP (210) ONLINE - JUN 2026
DESCRIPTION:Streamline your Passive House design workflow\, easily create accurate shading parameters for your project and save yourself time! This course will take learners from the very beginning up to a completed whole-building energy model using the powerful new designPH 2.2 plugin. \nParticipants will follow along\, step-by-step with a real project\, starting with the CAD geometry\, turning it into a full 3D surface model\, build and apply assemblies\, manage thermal bridges\, create complex window objects as well as detailed site shading and interior room-level data. We’ll also review the overall workflow and how to use designPH within a real project as well as how to move project data into PHPP models. \nA basic understanding of SketchUp is required\, we recommend using the free tutorials for beginners\, available online. It is also helpful if students have completed our 120A and 120B courses before taking this master class.

SUMMARY:Site Supervisor (250) ONLINE - JUN 2026
DESCRIPTION:If you already understand the fundamentals of Passive House construction — whether through hands-on experience on Passive House sites or by completing a Certified Passive House Tradesperson course — you may be ready to deepen your expertise. The Passive House Site Supervisor (SiteS) course is designed to expand your skills in coordinating and successfully executing complex or large residential and non-residential Passive House and EnerPHit projects on-site. \nCreated for Certified Passive House Tradespeople\, this master class broadens your knowledge of the professional roles and construction activities essential to delivering high-performance buildings. It strengthens your ability to manage and oversee work on Passive House construction sites and provides practical insight into the decisions that influence quality and performance throughout the build. Through real-world examples and practical guidance\, participants gain a clear understanding of the responsibilities\, skills\, and decision-making processes involved in carrying out Passive House building design on-site. \nCourse content includes construction management principles\, the handling of both opaque and transparent building-envelope components\, airtightness strategies\, and mechanical services—all examined from the perspective of site supervision. The course also explains how various construction-site factors affect the overall building energy balance in PHPP\, enabling participants to recognize and manage the details critical to achieving Passive House performance. \nPlease note: This SiteS certification can only be used in conjunction with a valid Passive House Tradesperson (CPHT) certificate. Additional certificates (such as SiteS) do not have to be renewed themselves. They are automatically renewed by the renewal of the main CPHT certificate. This new “add-on seal” is used in conjunction with a valid “main seal” (Tradesperson seal). Those without a CPHT certification can still benefit from the knowledge in this course\, you just cannot write the exam for CoVer certification without a CPHT designation.

SUMMARY:Construction Verifier (220) ONLINE - JUN 2026
DESCRIPTION:If you are already familiar with Passive House building design—perhaps through completing a Certified Passive House Designer course—and are ready to deepen your expertise\, the Construction Verifier (CoVer) course will help you advance your skills in site supervision\, building commissioning\, and navigating the Passive House certification process. \nDesigned for Certified Passive House Designers and Consultants\, this master class broadens your understanding of the professional roles and on-site activities essential to delivering successful Passive House and EnerPHit projects. The course strengthens your ability to work effectively on construction sites\, provides insights into the commissioning of energy-efficient buildings\, and clarifies the full certification pathway. \nThe Construction Verifier certification prepares participants to oversee the implementation of high-quality construction throughout every stage of a Passive House project. You will learn cost-efficient approaches to preparing required documentation\, review key construction-related topics that influence Passive House performance\, and gain a clear understanding of how to plan and carry out energetic commissioning for Passive House buildings. \nThe training is divided into the following modules (see below for more details): \n\nSite Supervisor\nCommissioning\nNavigating Passive House Certification\n\nPlease note: This CoVer certification can only be used in conjunction with a valid Passive House Designer/Consultant (CPHD/C) certificate. Additional certificates (such as CoVer) do not have to be renewed themselves. They are automatically renewed by the renewal of the main CPHD/C certificate. This new “add-on seal” is used in conjunction with a valid “main seal” (Designer/Consultant seal). Those without a CPHD/C certification can still benefit from the knowledge in this course\, you just cannot write the exam for CoVer certification without a CPHD/C designation.
