Passive House friends,
I sincerely hope you and your loved ones are healthy and safe. The challenges we face are significant, but I know, just like our Passive House buildings, you are resilient. We will get through this together.
Here at Passive House Canada we’ve had to make some big changes as to how we do business. To ensure the safety of our staff, we closed our office in Victoria and everyone is working from home. Our greatest challenge has been moving our great education on-line.
It had been our intention to eventually have our core programs delivered both online and in-person. On-line courses allow us to offer quality Passive House education to those living in remote or rural areas who are unable to travel to a classroom.
We greatly accelerated that movement to online when all our in-class programs were cancelled in March. We have great staff here and folks moved quickly to update curriculum, identify instructors, test and select a platform and get our 120 series, now called Pathway to Certification, online.
I believe we’ve kept the quality of our programs high. We use two Passive House experts on each course – one to manage the webinar software and answer questions, and the other to lead the instruction. Working together, two instructors makes sure everyone is engaged and questions are answered.
To launch our online program, we are offering members an additional 20 per cent off the Pathway to Certification bundle of courses. In recognition that some will have reduced cash flow at this time, we are also offering courses with a 50 per cent down payment and the rest in 45 days. Member discounts and the down payment plan apply to all our programs, including our soon-to-be-released Trades courses.
While we are all focused on keeping ourselves and loved ones safe, many of us have time on their hands. We would encourage you to take a Passive House course to help with your career. Gaining designation as a Passive House Certified Professional will certainly help “future proof” your career as government moves us to net-zero, high-performance building and retrofit standards. How can you lose?
In the meantime, stay healthy.
All the best,
Chris Ballard, CEO
Passive House Canada
