Lancaster Passive House is an infill project in the Montgomery area of Saskatoon. This project is designed to be a low-energy Passive House building modeled to use 26 kWh/m2 annually.
The house is a two-unit building with a large 1650 sq ft lower area. All the energy required for this build is electric, with a proposed 10.4 Kw solar PV system to generate most of the demand. Certified PH windows will be installed along with a Certified ERV system by Zehnder.
Situated on a corner lot in this well-treed neighbourhood, this house will capture the attention of any passer-by.
Grasswood Estates Passive House is a low-energy Passive House home located south of Saskatoon in the Regional Municipality of Corman Park, Saskatchewan. This two-storey residence was framed by The Green Builder during the spring and summer of 2017.
Designed by the owner, this build is modeled to use 28 kw/m2 annually for heating. The windows and doors are manufactured by Duxton. The ERV system being installed is manufactured by Zehnder. The R-values of the attic are R 100, the framed walls R 65, and the foundation walls are R60.
Radiance Cohousing is a friendly, green community located in the heart of the Canadian prairies. The nine-unit townhouse development is currently under construction, with completion anticipated for winter 2018.
The project uses a cohousing (“collaborative housing”) development approach, is designed to meet Passive House building standards, and incorporates sustainable landscaping techniques. By combining cohousing with environmental design, this project will showcase what’s possible in terms of sustainable infill housing in cold-climate, urban settings.
While this project is about creating quality homes that respond to a changing climate and build community, it is also about helping pave the way for other similar housing projects, influencing policy, and encouraging our leaders to make decisions that will benefit where we live, work, and play.
Temperance Street Passive House was designed to be a Certified Passive House project. 1102 Temperance and 1104 Temperance is a duplex with the 1102 Temperance unit being reviewed for certification by the PHI. Located in the Varsity View area of Saskatoon, this corner-lot building is an infill development.
The windows are Certified PHI components (Gaulhofer) and the HRV system is also a Certified PHI component (Zehnder).
This project has been featured in various media, including CBC Radio, Green Energy Futures, the Saskatoon Star Phoenix, and other outlets. The owners have been living in 1102 for over a year and love the overall quality and comfort of this Passive House. 1104 is listed for sale through a local real estate listing.
